Maths Mate Term- 3 Sheet- 8

Question: ‘#17’ circle the shortest amount of time 1 month, 40 days or 7 weeks.

Prediction: I predict I will have to use my prior knowledge of time to help me answer this question.

Clarification: I do not have anything to clarify because I am used to the terms that are being used in this sum.

Solution:

1. Convert these time to days so it is easy to work with.
2. 1 month = 31 or 30 days.
3. 7 weeks = 49 days.
4. 40 days = 40 days.
5. Now fill the answer in the box because now we Know what is the shortest amount of time ‘1 month’.

Summary:I used my prior knowledge of time skills and my problem solving skills to help me answer this question.

Maths Mate Term- 3 Sheet- 7

Question: Circle the longest time, (3 hour’s, 3000 seconds or 300 minutes) – #17.

Prediction: I predict that I will need to use my prior knowledge of time and I also believe I might have to use Vertical Addition and Division.

Clarification: I do not have anything to clarify because I already Know what the question is asking and the Units it is using.

Solution:

1. Find out the Units in the question and what the question is asking.
2. Convert 3000 seconds to minutes (3000/60=50 minutes), convert 3 hour’s to minutes(60 x 3=180. You do this so all the times are in the same unit so it is easier to work with.
3. Once you have done this you just fill in the answer because all you need to do is find which time has the most minutes.

Summary: I used my prior knowledge to solve this question.
